In Dairy Cattle, Sodium Bicarbonate is used as a feed addditive to neutralize rumen acids, aiding higher feed intake and increased milk production. In poultry, sodium bicarbonate helps maintain electrolyte balance and imporves heat stress tolerance. Poultry diets utilize sodium bicarbonate to promote improvement in eggshellquality. In beef cattle feed and pig rations, sodium bicarbonate promotes increased feed intake resulting in greater weight gain. Aquaculture success depends on many factors, including maintinaing a stable pH (between 7.0 to 8.5). Sodium bicarbonate has a pH of 8.3, is easy to dissolve, does not create locally high alkalinity and maintains alkalinity without increasing water hardness. Additional Uses: During citrus processing, Sodium Bicarbonate is used to wash and bath areas of packing houses to aid in fungi removal, for improved apperance and increased shelf life.
