PT. DUTA Dwipa Tektona (DDT) was established in Jakarta on 1997, solely as exporter of furniture and some types of wood base handicraft, to its affiliate company in Perth, Western Australia. During the process, it is found that supply dependability on quality and delivery time is highly inconsistent.
As the sales of the Western Australia affiliate started to grow and in the same time, they collect more and more customer complaint, DDT then decided to establish its own manufacturing facility.
The idea was studied in early June 1998, where many companies in Indonesia are slimming down their operations and new investments are totally out of question. DDT decided to invest by the end of August 1998 where the manufacturing facility is constructed in Terboyo Industrial Estate, Semarang, central Java and all purchases were finalized by end of 1998.
Construction began in early 1999 and DDT started testing its manufacturing facility as of July 1, 1999.
